Just rear ended some lady on the free way

she has a crack on her bumper

how much do you think it will cost if she takes it to a shop?

to get it painted, etc

No way of telling. You are gonna have to take it to a body shop and find out. Not even a picture can tell you how much it is gonna be cause parts cost are not the same from car to car. Labor is not the same from state to state and paint and materials is not the same from state to state. A crack in the bumper could just be that. Or it could be that the absorber is crushed the reinforcement is bent, the rear body panel is pushed in. You never know.

Estimates are based of visible damage and once you take that bumper off you could be finding much more damage. If you are looking to settle without insurance then you might be able to if it is not much more than your deductable. Bit I am thinking that it might be.

Jettas are crap for bumpers. They have that molding on them that is a pain in the *** to clip in and out. Just to do the bumper will most likely be MORE than $500.00 painted and installed.
