Default Gone, but not forgotten. Just sold my bike

Well I just sold her today...it has been some great times with her, my first bike ever and a great one at that. Simple, basic, almost no maintenance, but the most important thing of all, it was fun as hell. Either be it on a country backroad or on some tight trails, that bike just gave me lots of fun and introduced me to the world of 2 wheels.

I greatly recommend it for anyone that is looking for a fun, cheap and dependable bike for conmuting and doing a little offroading on the weekends.

What now you ask? I'll see...could be another Dualsport, maybe a SuMo, could even be a sportbike...now the fun of bike shopping begins.

Here's some of my favorite pics I have of her:

A couple of myself riding, my last offroad ride:

And the last two pics I took of her, this afternoon before handing it over to it's new owner (who just called me some minutes ago to tell me how happy he was with the bike):

Here's for a 08 filled with riding

Dude! That was fast. You didn't have it very long, hm?

So what's top of the list?

Did you cry? LOL

I remember I shed a tear or two when I got rid of my first car, and I was really really sad when I got rid of my first bike.

DRZ400SM are awesome. I would get one, if they weren't so darn expensive in this country

Like 4 months...I sold it because it was in that "sweet spot" where I could still get something out of her, if I had kept her for any longer it would begin to depreciate greatly.

Well, for now anything that fits between my budget. Could be an older 600SS, a used 400-500 dualsport/SuMo or a brand new 250 Dualsport (Honda XR250 Tornado or Yamaha XTZ250 Lander are the choices).

I was looking even at a 98 ZX-7R, because I've always liked the bike and it was on a killer price...but I called the dude and he sold it today But oh well, maybe that's God way of taking care of me lol

I felt sad, specially when I was on the last ride. But at the same time I feel happy because I sold my first bike, not my last one.

Expensive isnt' it? Well, when you live on a country where gas is cheaper than water, something is bound to be the exact opposite.

Maybe a DS is in the future for me...preferably a 250-400, who knows. But rest assured that I will continue in my "adventures", no matter which bike I have

It is not necesarily bound to be the opposite, im originally from uruguay, down there gas is about $6 a gallon and i dont think motorcycles are any chepaer than they are in Venezuela

Anyways buy another bike soon so that you can continue to show us that beautifull country!

Que bueno tener a otro suramericano por aqui! Un hermano gaucho (o charrua?)

Yeah, you're right about that...I have heard bikes in Uruguai isn't exactly cheap. It's just that I don't feel so bad with my american friends. They have cheap bikes, I have cheap gas

Yeah now I have to wait until monday for the dealerships to open. I have been checking the classifieds but nothing good has showed. All of the bikes that I find some interest with in my price range, when I call, are sold

These are some of options for buying brand new in my price range, let's see what /26 thinks of them:

Honda XR250 Tornado / Yamaha XTZ250 Lander, both of them are so close in performance, it's hard to choose. I guess I'll pick whichever I can get first.

Yamaha XTZ250 Lander has fuel injection and rear disc

Honda XR250 Tornado, carbed and rear drum:

Here's a possible third option...Yamaha Fazer 250, same engine as the Lander:

Los charruas de uruguay jejej

Viviste en USA? Tu ingles es muy bueno,

No se si muchas personas te puedan dar opiniones sobre esas motos porque me parece que aca en Estados Unidos no las venden.

You also have to think that if you go with your las option you may not have the same dirt capabilities as you have with a dual sport. Good luck on your quest, keep us updated..

I know, but here in Venezuela buying a brand new bike has become a problem. Due to a strict foreign money exchange control, importations have slowed down...and all bikes sold in here are imported (some from US, others from Japan, other like those I posted from Brazil, other from Europe and lastly from China and India) so prices have increased and availability is low.

I have to see which one I can get first. Today was crazy without a bike...it's one of those things in life, that when you didn't had it, you were ok with it. Now that you had it, you can't live without it haha

All in all, the important thing is to keep riding. Street or dirt, all of them are fun.

And I posted those bikes just so /26 could see others bikes they don't get in the US. And give an opinion mostly based into looks

25% inflation makes anything imported into your country expensive. Sucks. Has that drastically inflated the used bike market too?

Do they have SV's down there? I know, I'm an SV ***** lol.

Inflation, foreign coin exchange control, more taxes on imports, less offer to supply the demand, etc, etc, etc...

Everything is inflated right now. If new bikes get more expensive, used bikes go up in price too.

Yes, but they're so out of my range LOL.

I saw a 07 SV650 naked for sale in 17600$ LMAO

Just so you guys could get an idea...I just spent aprox 8150$ in my new bike. Oh the things I could've buyed with that money had I been living in the US
