Default 88 civic dx.

Hi there i am looking to do a few mods to my car. Running a stock d series engine besides a cold air intake.

i am looking into getting a header and muffler i am just unsure of which would be a good choice for my car. I have checked out ebay and came across lots of none name brand stuff that looks ok but i doubt the quality but the price is good .

Any advice would be appreciated on this or other things i might want to do to my car thanks.

d series engines are awesome. as a reply to the ebay items i might say you might not want to buy them. whene puting things on to your car u want to take into consideration wat its going to do to your car, how you car is going to preform from your upgrade...ect. buying stuff off ebay really isnt good for your car. they are makeing hundreds of that same item just to make a profit, they dont realy care wat it does to your car. just save up and buy quality parts. to start off buy some header, a quality intake, and a good catback exhaust.

You are only going to need one header.

agreed about the mpfi swap you might also want to get an si or zc camshaft. also you should probably replace worn suspension items ball joints tie rod ends and the busings on the rear this will make your car handle much better. good luck.

Thanks guys and my car has a dual point pg mfi.

But is starting with headers and exhaust a good choice or should i do some other things first?

Are Jvt racing header any good?

I plan to get the suspension done once i save up the cash and my DX is an automatic.

I'd do a 5spd swap, mpfi swap, and focus on i/h/e last.

Just remember if you do a swap to MPFI, the engine wiring harness will have to be modified. I'm not sure but you may be able to use a complete MPFI harness if it is compatable to your year model.

i doubt headers and intake helps maybe like 5-10hp if that i would get a supercharger or rebuild the motor for a higher compression. Maybe a minime swap vtec and or maybe a turbo d16 u can put one together like 14b dsm turbo and so on.

do some research and see what u want to do if it high mileage then u might have to rebuild the block or get a lower mileage one.

The minime sounds like it would be worth the investment i checked out the mega post about it and it seems like a lot of work but not overly hard. Any ideas on where to get the parts i would need?

mpfi swap should be the first mod when you have a dx. the motor in these models aren't made to go fast and most likely they have high mileage. your best bet would be to just look around and purchase a newer d16 motor such as a d16z6, y7, y8. you can typically find these motors for around 200-500 bucks easily.

your sign says it auto convert that to it easy to manual get a si trans and when u get the 1.6. see what u want to do maybe turbo or go all motor or if u just want a si motor and u are ok with that power band then stick with the 1.6

the crx si has a d16a6 so it will bolt right in and is an mpfi motor so you will have to swap out the ecu and modify your wires. there is plenty of info if you search.
