ebay products.....
whats up fellas?? Why is ebay hated on?? i was talking to a guy while i was getting my car aligned and he had a 95 del sol with a D15B turbo running 6LBS on a ebay kit....along with ebay exhaust (with a greddy muffler) and CAI. And he says that there is no difference in ebay and name brand...except PRICE!!! He said hes had this car for almost 3 years running the same stuff. and has never had a problem with it...just well maintained. So the reason why im asking is if thats the case then why does everyone go with all this BIG NAME BRAND stuff. I mean...i know he was not lying...his car was right in front of me. and the main reason why im asking this is i am planning a b16a2 swap for my 95 civic and do a couple of minor bolt ons and turbo. i am going to do this all at one time b/c this is my only car and need it to drive. and of course im looking for the cheapest way. so is he just lucky hes never had a real problem with this stuff or what???

Regardless of what he said to you, stay away from ebay turbochargers and ebay turbo manifolds. Unless they are cast manifold or unless they are just used parts being resold on ebay. Those cheap ebay turbochargers are balanced improperly, and have been known to have their seals blown. The tubular manifolds are well known to crack over time, because they aren't strong enough to support the weight of the turbo (something they should be meant to do).

luck plays a huge role in ebay. unless you know of people who have had success with a seller, your taking a huge risk, and even then. Some stuff, like a CAI obviously would be fine. Even most of the turbo kit parts look ok, like if the intercooler leaks just weld it, but the turbo itself is a very precise piece of equipment that should not be cheaped out on

Re: ebay products.....
remember you can buy name brand stuff off ebay too they dont just sell generic stuff
and remember just cause its generic brand does not always mean its bad but you kind of take your chances on some of that stuff. check the brand out by searching it to see if anyone else has used it with any good luck

Ebay is good for some things...exhaust and intake would probly be fine...something like a turbo though you'd definetly want to to with a name brand just beause one small malfunction can cost alot of $$$$

Re: ebay products.....
A Big Name Brand for example Greddy, Apexi, etc.....have already establish themselves in the tuner market. You know what you get when you paid the big bucks for their products. Reliable!
But ebay no name products are just cheap knock-offs. Quality and manufacturing of these products are the reason why you shouldn't buy "ebay" products.
A ebay turbo would definitely screw you and your motor over in the long run.
Ebay stuff is like buying $14.97 starbury shoes from Steve and Barry's.
Big Name Brand is like buying Jordan's.
Your choice.
