Default Front Speakers

I have a 99 Honda Civic LX sedan car, I just installed a new head unit. Next step I want to do is replacing the front speaker's. My question is do I have to remove the whole door panel, or can I use a flat screw driver and pop the plastic cover off the OEM speaker? There is a little spot for a screw driver it looks like but I don't want to break the plastic, thanks.

im not sure if LX is different from the rest of the other models. But for mines, theres like a cover in front of the speaker that i can take out and it will expose the speakers and the screws that fasten the speaker in place. I dont even need screw drivers. I just pull it out.

You don't have to remove the entire door panel. Remove the grille and there will be three screws holding it in. Then all that's holding it in is the plug.

Thanks, is there any connectors I have to get when I go to best buy and get the speakers?

w/my coupe i just popped the covers off, don't have to take door panels out, then get a wire converter from circuit city for aftermarket speakers, costs about 10 bucks, that's it.

for the most part after market speakers do not come with the factory plugs. You can buy this adapter plug or you can just cut the wires and use some crimpable plugs available at any walmart for 2 dollars a box
