fender bender, need some insurance advice
to sum it short, a lady was backing out of the parking lot while i was driving off and insurance says that it is the ladys fault and will cut me a check.

I will take the car in after the new years and get an estimate on it. Do you guys know how much it would cost to fix it and what would my options be? Would it be cheaper to just fix or replace? Also, if they give me a check and I deposit the check and after the estimate find out what they gave me isn't enough? Could I just give them the estimate saying this is how much it costs? My insurance is with State Farm.
Thanks and mods please move if this isn't in the right section.

it doesn't look that bad, i would say around the 300 dollar range, by the time you get done with new fender, paint, wheel alignment.... when an old lady hit my stratus i got a new door, fender, headlight, and my bill was only around 600 bucks. yours doesn't look near as bad.
I agree. Get an estimate of what it would cost to fix it which should include labor etc etc. Once you get the check go see what a professional dent remover tells you. Should be alot cheaper than the check cut to you. You could always just get another fender and do the work yourself. Its easy to do. Dont know how? Buy a helms!
Yeah man get an estimate, get the check and pocket the money
.Pull the fender off yourself,it looks like you could push it out by hand.If not a small body hammer just be careful not to hit it to hard

IMO go to like acura or honda or some big name in your city and get the estamate, go to a junk yard or just buy a new fender (like 70 bucks i think i paid for a primerd fender for my 00 si) and then get it painted and make out with 200 bucks in your pocket. cant cost that much to get painted if it is already off the car and it is already primered

even tho some people may think thats a lot...i think thats a fair price. depending on where you live too. just painting the door for me cost about 450 with removing one minor dent.
they paid you that much to get it sanded down, removing the dent and repainting it. give dent wizard a call. i just got my door ding, and fender ding removed and they did a really good job. cost me 350 for both. i live in SF, CA so prices may be higher then other places. i was surprized by how good of a job they did.

that looks a little big for a paint less dent guy thats just my op.
i do work in a body shop as a painter and my shop will not put a new panel on and paint it for less that $600, not to mention part cost and that if you put a new fender on the door and hood will need to be blended to match color(no color is a butt match, even 100% new car on the lot , there are lots of factors to that: factory location, mix batch ect.), that means R&I (remove and install) door handle, door molding, belt line, mirror ect. then the clips that hold the belt line on will probably break(then that will have to be a supplement to ins.) and IMO the bumper will need to be blended also which means that will need to be R&I'd also, then your talking well in to $1500+..
so IMO take the car to a reputable shop and not the one that ins. says too no matter what they say about warranty or any other BS, those shops will cut corners BC they get payed nothing to fix cars but the good thing for them is they get quantity for the DRP's or direct repair facility from your ins....
feel free to PM me with further Q's about this...
also be careful of after market replacement parts they usually dont fit well...
and if ins. did write the sheet to repair the fender then thats about a far price...

if you've taken it to a body shop and gave them the money, not some of the money, all of it, because you aren't suppose to benefit from the accident, and the body shop says its not enough, they will call the insurance company that issued the check for them to send more money. other than that, i say screw that idea find a cheaper yet just as adequate means, like these gentlemen have been suggesting, and put some money back into your pocket
