Default Neptune two step

Over the weekend I had my car tuned on the “base” Neptune system and I had a question about the two step feature.
I’ve only tried it three times now, but I found a little difficult to use in terms of its accuracy (otherwise, I love the two step feature).
With the two step feature you’re supposed to rev to the RPM that you want to launch at and then you floor the throttle and at 100% throttle the car should hold at that RPM.
The problem is I want to launch at 2,500-3,000 RPM, when I try to hit 100% throttle the car revs too fast and shoots the RPMs up another 1,000-1,500 RPMs or so; curious to see if anyone else has had any similar issues?

Also, the car is an all motor nonVTEC B20Z w/Crower 403 cams, it also has an ACT 8 lb. Prolite flywheel (I’m assuming that the flywheel may be the culprit…).

Thanks

Sounds like you need to get to WOT a little faster. lol

I have never had or heard of a problem with NepTune two step like what you are describing....

Depends on what the TPS threshold is set at, i usually set it around 80% and if you do it quick it won't pick up more than 500rpms or so. Once you get a feel for it you'll know how much to compensate. Alot of it has to do with the engine as well. If it's a good n/a motor with light parts, it'll rev quicker and pick up more rpms before the NepTune locks the rpm point.

Also, for what it's worth, you're probably going to get your best launches on street tires w/o using a 2 step.

Thanks for the input,
Yeah I was just testing it out, I plan on using the 2-step at the track with a pair of BFG drag radials; and the car does revs fairly quick, again that’s probably because of the flywheel.
I’m sure it’ll just take some practice before I get the process down, compensating for the quick revs and all.

Just to throw my opinion onto what was already said-

My ECtune 2 step works the same way. It took a few tries to learn how it reacts to set it where i want it. Just like anything else practice makes perfect.

On radials i would suggest you also dont use the 2 step. I used the 2 step on my radials and the 60fts were horrible. The general concensus from everyone who has been successful on radials is that "slipping" it out of the hole on radials works the best. Worked for me too

With trying to have the 2-step so low(2500-3000rpm). You might want to check with your tuner and see what the minimum rpm setting is at for the 2-step activation. I usually like to have the 2-step setting setup on MPH deactivation. So you can prestage on the 2-step and then have the antilag come in on a TPS activation. But for your NA car and just having a neptune EPROM you cant make adjustments on the fly so your just going to have to adjust for RPM increase for the TPS based 2-step.

The minimum RPM for the 2 step activation is currently set at 3000rpm.. I can lower it if you'd like, or can lock it at a set rpm of your choice as well.. I normally set the minimum rpm for engagement at 3000 rpm, as I had a few customers who would get caught in the 2 step just leaving the stoplight without trying to launch (if I left it at 2000 rpm or so)..

Update, I got the hang of the two step, it’s actually working out pretty ok for me.
I tried at Firebird the past weekend and I think it’ll help my launch, once I drop some drag radials up front.
Thanks for the input all and thanks for the tune locash.

Im pretty sure it only works over 3000rpms at least thats how mine is set up. And ull want to be launching much higher once u throw drs on there anyways. So i guess just deal with it for now lol.

As mentioned before, the minimum RPM is adjustable.

I have mine set at 3500 RPM minimum, with a 70% threshold.
