Default lets try this again.

i posted a topic about my vtec being set at 6600 and it got locked. lol i have a b16 with bc3 cams and got it tuned.. before getting it tuned i had a problem when i hit vtec, the power dropped so much (to 70 ft lbs torque). in order to fix the dip we had moved the vtec point to 6600 where now it is real smooth througout the powerband. i made good power (172 whp) but now my concern is with my vtec point set that high now, would that affect the usable power on the track? let say i raced a car with the same amount of power but its vtec is set at 4800 rpm or so. wouldnt he beat me?

you need a clue really...

doesn't matter where your vtec is set to, if the power is smooth then its where it needs to be most of the time.

The car is tuned right? I would hope that the tuner knows what he is doing. If he set the engagement point there its for a reason. It does seem high in my opinion but every motor is different and reacts different ways. I am sure he tried it at a lower point and the curve may have looked worse.
Just because someone's vtec engages early doesnt mean they are going to beat you man.

In all reality it boils down to your tuner. If you are not confident in what they did to your car you should not have taken it to them in the first place.

I never said you were wrong sir

I dont personally tune cars so i would take your info over mine any day.
It "seemed" high to me because of the 15 setups i have had tuned have never seen one set that high, but never said it was wrong.

After all the tuner had hands on experience with the car itself. I have never seen anyone set out to purposely make less power for a customer. So if they set it there then i would basically say- it is what it is

dont say that man- he will try to hook vtec up to a steering wheel push button switch. haha

just turn the vtec down and you will run 9s. . .

Do you have a graph of your dyno? Kinda curious how far those BC3's carry on!
