b20vtec timing belt snapped..help

Default b20vtec timing belt snapped..help

so i just finished my b20vtec build yesterday..stock b20b bottom end..b16 head..itr cams..it ran fine yesterday..today i took the car into vtec...jus to hear the crossover didnt really drive in vtec at all..maybe a second..when i came out of vtec maybe 30 sec down the road my timing belt snapped..been reading a few post about bent valves..can someone let me know my chances of everything being ok or valves being bent....please help me

If it drives okay but idles all funky you probably have a bent valve(s). You can have a shop do a leak down test to get an idea how many valves are bent, and go from there.

yeah a leakdown test will tell you if you have any bent valves.

how fast were you going when the belt snapped?? if you were going kinda fast most likey bent valves for sure

Sad to hear Often times when people talk about a snapped timing belt or their timing belt jumping teeth, this usually results in bent valves or worse. Maybe you're one of the lucky ones, but a good leakdown test will tell you for sure.

got lucky guys no bent valves jus drove my car two hours with a new belt no problem...except for a 211 dollar ticket..damn
