Yeah.. so i just got my motor back from the guy who was going to do my swap, but doesn't have time to do it.

There seemed to be some confusion on what year the engine came from.. it's either a 1996 block or a 2000.. but i can't find a VIN on the block. should there be one stamped on it, or attatched elsewise?

Or are there any other markings on the block i could use to find out what year this motor is..

the head has a mark above the exhaust manifold/header, if the stock exhaust manifold is on its hard to see with the stock heat shield on. It should look like a circle around 9/6 if its a 1996 , sometimes the mark is cockeyed or turned. it should also have a vin tag near the oil pan on the front(exhaust side) of the motor

the markings are as follows:

on the head:

9/4 /8 3/0 0/6

to the left of the four circles ( above ), there is Hm, and on the right, it says PR4-4

on the left side of the block, towards the transmission, it says:
A409020157

the stamped engine code is B18B1
right below that, it says 2318005. the '00' seems to be in a bolder font than the rest of the characters.

there is nothing in that blank space above the oil pan.
The flat area looks like the rest of the engine... kind of textured.
the curvy area towards the left ( transmission ) is smoother.

argh.

You have a 94 motor that came from a 95 model integra (motors before cars). If you ever plan on BARing the car it wont pass due to this as well. Also if you paid for a 00 you just got ripped off.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by black0hatch &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">its a 94. wouldnt a 2000 be a b18b2?</TD></TR></TABLE>

I believe there is only B18B1, no B2. Other LS's are B18A1, B18A and B18B

If you pull the motor and sell it youll make your money back. If not then you have a good motor (unless there is problems with it). There wont be any VIN on OBD1 motors, In 1996 they desided to put VINs on there motors. Although this is only in America of course, in Japan they had no VINs on OBD2 motors. But i think 01 and up they started putting them on again.
