is d16y7 worth turbo charging for lil more power???????
just wondering i want a lil more power and to know itf something does go wrog i dont have to spend alot of money on another motor or to rebuild. just want opinions on turboing one, thanks
If you want a little more power, pop in a 25 shot of nitrous and call it a day after tuning.
If you want signifcant power increases, turbo, after doing a leakdown and compression test on the motor to see how "healthy" it is. You can turbo your car, tuned and chipped for ~ $2,500

Yes, a D16y7 on boost, if done properly with the right parts, installation adn even tuning, can be fast. Keep in mind, finding the proper parts and paying for correct tuning is crucial to the lifespan of a motor. If you get legit parts and install them correctly, your motor will last in the long run. If you buy cheap parts, just keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Steer clear of Ebay brand turbos and manifolds.
Edit: Turbos dont add a "lil" amount of power, they add (when done properly) a large amount of power. A turbo would easily double your Y7's WHP output.

Boosting the y7 is worth it. You can make 200hp easy and still run reliable. OF course, people underestimate a good tune, get it tuned and you're set. As for blowing the y7, it's around 300-400 for a replacement swap. No biggie IMO.
Of course, that is all IMO.
