Default need some help... technical problems..

got a 2001 civic dx-g...

the timing belt was changed, and the alternator light came on.. they checked out the alternator (replaced it) but that was not the problem...

the garage then disconnected the alternator light and installed a voltage gauge in the car to monitor the amps..

the srs light then came on, and is still on.. They disconnected the airbag, and the light is still on ...

all of this after the timing belt was replaced... any thoughts??

thanks!

Found this in the FAQ's...reading this should show you how to reset your SRS light. Just an idea, but you may want to have the shop hook your air bag back up!

Hope this helps.

After a timing belt change, my srs light also came on. I just kept driving it and it reset after about 5 miles of driving.

Reason your light probably came on was because the Belt was not tightened enough when reinstalled. You probably replaced the alternator for no reason, and disconnecting the alternator light probably will cause a lot more problems for you in the future.

You do not use a voltage gauge to monitor amps, it just shows you the volt reading.

Reconnect your airbag, your alternator light, and have your mechanic.. actually bring it to another mechanic and get the belt put on properly.

The reason your SRS light turned on is because the alternator is not putting out the proper output to power your electrical system making the SRS ecu think there is problem.
