Thermoswitch?
here's what's wrong with my EF sedan. when the engine is cold, the radiator fan is off. when it reaches the normal temp, the rad fan comes on, which is still normal. but here's the problem: after it comes on, it doesn't turn off unless you turn off the engine. shouldn't it be turning off when it has cooled down the coolant? what do you guys think would be the culprit? thanks
how is the engine temp, if it thinks its running to warm then the fan will stay on, if temps are ok then it sounds like cts/fan switch is shorting to groun when turned on eventually
I recommend you take the old garden hose and spray cold water directly onto the radiator. Do this for a couple of minutes to ensure the engine is actually cooling down. The fan should eventually cycle off. If it doesn't, or takes a long time, then your thermostat may be hanging open, which is fairly cheap and simple to replace. If the fan never cycles off, the relay which controls the fan might be sticking in the on position. That relay is also cheap and simple to replace. Of course the ECU controls the relay via the temp sensor input. Hopefully you won't have to get that far. Let us know what you find.
Good Luck. Later.
