Buffing single stage paint
I have a 90 hatch and I believe those only had a single stage paint. The paint is in great shape, but it's faded some. Is it possible to make it shiney again by buffing or polishing it?
What would be the technique and what would I need?

Compound/medium cut polish via wool pad (I like wool better on SS paint)
follow with a fine polish with a white or black/grey foam pad.

Is it just a medium polishing compond that can be found at an autoparts store? When you say wool pad, you mean for a buffing wheel? Can it be done by hand?

you generally cannot find a good compound or a good polish at the store. and I mean a Wool buffing pad for a rotary buffer. I don't suggest doing it by hand.

I guess you could, but most body shop supply stores only carrly like 3M.
Plus online is a little cheaper.

for a compound/medium cut polish: Optimum Hyper Compound is good, Menzerna Super Intensive Polish (expensive), etc
for a fine polish, Menzerna 106ff is the best HANDS DOWN (but its $50 for 32oz), Optimum Polish is great for the price.
Id suggest Optimum products if you dont want to spend the steep prices for menzerna, especially since you dont have a new vehicle or anything.
