according to the site it says
"This system is geared for high end boosting and warrants a built motor. Be prepared to be thrown into the back of your seat and making 250+ whp from just bolting on. It offers perfect power with no compromise. "

oh i didnt even see that
lol
well thats not what im looking for just want 7-8 psi
to keep the civ as a DD if i bought this kit http://www.dezod.com/pd_dezod_...n.cfm
what else would i need besides injectors and ems
also whats a good ems to use for low boost or dose it matter?
this is going to be my first boost so im trying to do it right ive read the FAQs a few times but id like to hear as many opinions as i can so i can get this right without blowing my motor up
edit: nevermind i kinda figured it out on my own but any input on what or what not to do would be greatly appreciated

nothing over 10lbs on a stock plastic intake mani. that quote saying 250whp+ from bolting it on doesnt account for what type of tuning you will have. not all tuners tune the same. plus, hes going according to what power numbers HE has seen so dont go according to whats advertised. plus, all his parts arent really made in house either... just FYI, even though he says it is.
with that turbo though, itll take some time to spool so its a mostly top end turbo. as for EMS, id go kpro. people who have them LOVE it over AEM EMS. if your not going over 10PSI, then maybe you might want to invest in a piggyback since its cheaper, but like i said, kpros the ****. in all honesty, the kits overpriced. Id piece a kit together if i were you but of course, im bias

well thanks for all the info Curiouz and if i was a turbo inclined as yourself id probably try to piece together my own kit but like i said this is my first boost and its kinda intimidating but im a real big "DIYer" and i have some good friends that know ALOT more than i do and they'll deff. help me with the build and id much rather work on my own car than take it to some shop because anyone can do that and its no fun at all, but any sources that you'd like to share wih me to piece together my own kit would be greatly appreciated,if its going to be cheaper im all for it
anyway thanks again for the imput

I want to piece my own turbo together as well but i dont know about any sources for the turbo piping ex: charge pipe etc.... but i think as far as intercooling goes i'd get a universal kit and have it bent to the specs i need.. and how in the hell am i gonna find those specs?? idk yet it would be great if you could help

well im not as turbo inclined as you think. i only know most of the basics of turbocharging a car. the more you read, the more youll understand. i started out knowing almost nothing about turbos and just spouted what everyone else did, "get dezods kit. its the most complete package you will ever find for a d17. so what if it costs more?" what a mindless zombie i was. ive learned now that his kits are not only overpriced, but just arent worth it for the price. the power hes making along with the cost isnt justified anymore in my eyes.
and plus, im pretty luck to have some very big 7thgen turbod guys that live in my area to help me out. in all honesty, i wouldnt even have thought about boost if it werent for them. maybe theyll chime in on this thread.

the SF kit was probably the easiest bolt on IC kit for the 7thgen you will find. Dezods kit wont fit so dont mock one up according to his specs. To find them, you could always measure

alright so ive don a little resaerch and i wanted to kno if this garrett turbo would be ideal for my app its the GT2560R the trim is 62 the A/R 0.64
besides the amount of boost you wanna run, whats your budget and what are your power goals? remember, turbos CAN go bad sometimes, even new ones so keep that in mind. IIRC its ball bearing so not only does it spool fast, but it also provides some decent numbers. And keeping that in mind, how much does one of those run? 900?
uhh im on the east coast too. plus, it doesnt matter where you are, you order through this glorious thing called the internet
as for a budget of 2k for 230-250hp... unless ALL your parts are used, you get them for super cheap, and you have a welder on hand that will work for next to nothing, not possible.

Thats a GT28R..... it matches the motor damn near perfect. Power picks up in the 2000's and it pulls hard to about 7300. There's 3 trims of that turbo... they're all stock Nissan Turbos, one is the S14, one is the S15 and one is for the R34 Skyline.... (there's a 4th turbo that is also sometimes called a GT28R, the full number is GT2854R, its a little smaller on the turbine side) The S14 and 15 ones are pretty much identical, I think the exhaust wheel trim is different, the Skyline snail is a whole different animal, and its a little smaller. The one you normally find for sale is the S14 unit (GT2560R-1), its a great little quick spooling turbo, i have one.
You wont hit 230 HP on that turbo for $2000... the turbo alone is over $1000 with the flanges, then you have the added waterlines and fittings to go with the oil lines, plus the manifold and having a downpipe made because no one makes a downpipe for the HKS manifold, which you kinda have to use, and you'll have to weld a cast aluminum elbow onto the compressor housing so the outlet clears the motor mount. The power is very doable, but you're gonna need to spend quite a bit more money to run a GT turbo.

wow i kinda feel good about myself now after a little reading/research i picked a pretty damn good turbo when a few hours before i couldnt figuer out what any of those numbers meant lol ,
but anyway it seems like its going to cost alot more money than i have to run this turbo im looking to spend somewhere between 3 and 4k so any sugestions on a good site to buy a turbo or what turbo i should use?
Thanks for all the help guys

well its not completely done but i cant say anything regarding the turbo manifold or IC setup yet... youll just have to see when i post it up when im done
as for the rest, t3 super 60 .48ar turbo, tial 38mm wg, and 310cc type S injectors. as for ems, im thinking about going AEM FIC but id need someone in the area that can tune it well but well see about that. im still deciding between BOV's too but thats not too important to a turbo setup, its all personal preference anyways.
oh btw, im a poor college kid too. im in my 3rd yr but i worked 60 hours a week and went to school for 18 credits just to get this setup so...
