DOHC ZC
i did a search and didnt really find anything on here about this engine. im sure its under used on here and such for a reason but i'm thinking about dropping one in my 93 eg dx. i'm wondering what headers and intake manifolds bolt up to this along with throttle bodies as well. please someone help me out and if anyone had a "how-to" swap on this 3rd gen zc into the 93 eg chassis i would be very grateful!!! thanx to all who reply
PLEASE dont do this... its your car but its a bad idea. there is very little support for this motor in stock and aftermarket aspects and you will find it is a huge headache of an engine.... a buddy had one and couldnt ever get anything for it w/o and arm and a leg amputation.
I have had a DOHC ZC in my car for the past 5-6 years now and never once had a headache...that wasn't my own fault anyway. I don't have any issues finding replacement parts or aftermarket parts for mine. What's the problem with a DOHC ZC?

i've had my dohc zc in my crx for about 4 years and it's been great.
d series headers fit but you need to port match the header to the head. a dremel works well.
what kind of aftermarket parts do you want?
there are many companies that make parts for them, it just depends on how much you want to spend on the parts.

you can make the headders work from the z6 motor... the dohc zc is actually a pretty tough motor. i used to have one in my crx. i dont even know where you can buy an im though. and those are not compatible with any other motor. as far as tb you can get a skunk 2 one.. or whatever. i think its a good motor. better than the z6 in my opinion. it seems like you make more power before the z6 does.. plus its dohc so you have more tuning capabilities.. and theyre only like 900 shipped with an lsd tranny!!! id do it. mine took a 75 shot of nitrous all the time
!!! hope this helps.

Well it's not exactly a "D-Series" but by most accounts, most parts are interchangeable with other D-Series engines. The key is knowing what will and won't work. The flange for the exhaust is the same so any D-Series header will work, but as mentioned, the exhaust ports are slightly off. If you want to eliminate that, lay the stock exhaust manifold gasket on top of the header flange and mark what needs to be rounded out with a dremel. The intake manifold has the same flange as a D16A1. Internally, it shares the same bore so any D-Series piston will fit in there. The big difference there is that the DOHC ZC has the highest dome of all D-Series stock pistons so you have to consider that when choosing a replacement. Research it, I don't see it as being any easier or harder to build than any other motor. The key is knowing what will work and won't work.
Only downside I can think of is the fact that it was never released for the US market so make sure you can legally install it in your car per your state laws regarding motor swaps.
