Default Intermittent Oil Light Flashing

hey guys,, got another 96 accord (4 banger).. long story short, i was on the freeway and then suddenly hit traffic and slowed to almost a stop. Suddenly oil light came on. Pulled over and check oil,, (as I had changed it two weeks previously) and the oil was good. Decided to ignore it and keep going. Initially thought it was the oil sensor gone bad, because the light would only stay on when the car was idling, and would blink if the rpms went up. Now today I turn the car on and I hear this crazy knocking sound coming from my engine. Light stays on, check oil, and alll is ok. Funny thing is now If i turn the car on the light comes on, but if I rev the engine the light will go off.. anyone know whats uP??? thanks

from what your describing sounds like your oil system has been neglected to the point that the oil has started to "bake and flake". meaning that the oil has sludged up and solidified with deposits that are now breaking off and blocking the pick up screen for the oil pump.(just think of brownie mix thats been burnt) and after starving the pump for oil for awhile the bearings have been deprived of the correct amount of oil pressure to keep those metal moving parts from touching, so you might be hearing a low end rod knock. but you'll need to pull the pan, don't drain it first. the reason i say this is you'll end up draining out the small pieces that are plugging up the screen since they could drop to the bottom of the pan over night and need a few mins of running to get them sucked back into the screen. if you lower the pan and see the screen plugged up then its time for some new crank and rod bearings. now you could luck out and score with just having to replace the number 4 rod bearing since its the last low end bearing to get fed oil. then sell the bitch as fast as you can... just kidding that would be unethical. right?
