I wouldnt drive it anywhere. When my friend's oil light came on and he kept driving, he ended up with a bad oil pump and spun bearings.

Re: Oil light coming on (Ls_V_TurboSi)
the light has been coming on after the car is warmed up and has been driven for a while. and it does'nt come on and stay on. it'll come on for a second, then go off, then stay on for a while, then flicker, then stay on, and so forth.

LMAO...happens when you dont change your blinker fluid too.
The problem could be your oil pressure sensor...has your car ever had an oil pressure gauge on it? I know that people were having issues with some bad autometer mechanical oil pressure gauges causing their oil light to come on because they were not working properly and causing a clog...
Could be a few things...might want to just spend the $50 and have a diagnostic test run on the car so they can tell you for sure, better safe than sorry, and if you dont have the means to have it inspected yourself or by a friend...might as well let what you would assume is a professional do it...right? Right.

True to a point, if your oil pressure is really why the light is going on, well off hand I think oil warning light is programmed to flick on when the oil psi hits 3 psi, and if your traveling at a good speed and your oil pressure drops, you usually don't have a enough time to shut the engine off, therefore causing some engine damage.

Sorry to say it, but you got what you deserved. If my oil light came on , I would never ever drive it unless an aftermarkt gauge was hooked up. You were taking a big risk, and you lost.

like i said, oh well. what, was i gonna fix it befoe i got the swap? hell no. i think that i lucked out. the thing could've gone on my way home from school the night before. then i would have been fucked seeing as how the place i'm getting is 45 min south of my house, and school is 25 min north of my house. so i think it worked out as best it could. the timing is uncanny. here's the story: got my car back from paint a week and a half ago, then i decide that i'm not gonna use the motor in my other hatch, so i sell it on H-T, find a z6 swap through a friend on H-T, he says that he'll install it today, mwe meet to swap cars yesterday(car seems to be running fine), dude calls me when i'm almost home saying that car has blown about 20 miles from his house, i urn around in rush hour traffic and meet him and call a tow. the timing worked out near perfect. if it just would've made it that last little bit then it would've been perfect. it could've been alot worse. glad i go to church on sundays. someone was looking out for me there.

Re: Oil light coming on (90blackcrx)
Sometimes the oil pump ring thing can shatter or crack, giving inconsistant oil pressure or none at all.
Seen it on a Dodge V10 and a pontiac something or other.
Wonder if thats what happend to you?
