Hi all,
93, accord EX, auto, 177K

My car jurks a little when it shifts. I was told that I might need to replace the Transmission mount. I was also told that front engine mount is bad.

Transmission mount:
1) Can someone tell me where Transmission mount is located?
2) How easy it is to replace? - How do I know if it is bad
3) Any instructions?


front engine mount:
1) How easy is it to replace?
2) Can I check it myself to see if it is bad? - How do I know if it is bad?

front mount is easy just a jack on the oil pan(with a block of wood) to raise the motor and undo the 11/16 bolt through the dog bone

 

tranny mount is a lil tricky on the pass side. remove the intake box an pipe,with a jack under the tranny raise up the tranny. remove the 11/16 bolt and lower the tranny slighty for clearance to remove the mount. removing the dogbone mount also will make it a lil easier

good way to dent or put a hole in the pan...

 

Is there a way to check them to see if they are bad or not?

as for the mount you can see the dogbone mounts condition while it is in the car, as for the tranny mount you should be able to get a look at it with the air box out of the way. Also the most common mount to go out is the rear mount under the intake mani, removing the airbox also with a flashlight to see the mount should be able to inspect the mounts

thats why he advised to use the wood inbetween. it would not put a dent in the pan. its done all the time.

 

hmm like a 2x4? i would just be afraid of crushing it or something.. i need to do all the mounts too.
