Default Little piece of LCA bolt wont come out.(tried everything!)

So I had to cut the LCA bolt into 3 pieces just to get the LCA out. (1 cut on either side of the sleeve) Now all that is left is the 1/2 inch threaded end of the bolt that is still in the nut on the brake drum/knuckle assembly. I was able to leave a little piece hanging out when I cut the bolt initially. I have tried turning it with vice grips, but I keep slipping off that little piece. I then tried cutting a slot in to the piece and sticking a screwdriver in the slot to turn it, but I just stripped my makeshift slot out. My drill bits must suck, because they keep slipping off and wont bite. WTF am I supposed to do now?

Cut the nut off and just use a new grade 8 nut and lockwasher

Yeah, that was the last option I had entertained. Gonna go ahead and finish this project tomorrow. Thanks for the reassurance.
