Default horrible grinding noise on the freeway yesterday.

So I was driving down the freeway on my way home from work when suggenly I hear this pop and a small grinding sound. Me being paranoid about every little sound I start to exit then suddenly bang and this horrible noise was coming from my drivers side. Then smoke came. I was like wtf so I pulled over as fast as I could. When I was able to inspect my car the entire splash guard that goes under bumper and wheel well was sticking out sideways in pieces. my rim was totally black from all the debree that came off. I was pissed to cause I tried to pull it out all the way and I couldn't get it loose due to my car being so low. Had to drive home with a plastic pieces sticking out of my wheel well. Guess it sounded bad but wasn't really.

Has this every happened to anyone? I bet this splashguard is going to be expensive. $$$

I had the middle portion splashguard rip off when I drove over some ice. It wasn't expensive. I believe it was $38 for a brand new one from Acura. The side wheel guards should be the same or even cheaper.

ok I will just pick up a new one. not worth my time to go to a salvage yard and get one.

man wtf, stealership here wanted $70+ for a new passenger side splash guard, mine was missing when I bought the car. I got one from evanshondaspecialist.com for $27 shipped, and they included the hardware because I was missing a few bolts. Used of course, but it was just a little dirt which I just cleaned off before installing.

I've got a spare driver-side fenderwell liner you can pretty much have. It's got a couple of tears in it b/c it came off during an auto-x run, and got dragged a little. None of the mounting holes are damaged tho.

Shipping will probably be around $10, depending on how tight I can package it.

It is from a '95 Integra. I can't remember if the mounting point for the front is different tho.

There goes that idea. I'm sure my friend that owns a salvage yard will hook it up. If not I'm not too worried about it. The only thing I dont like is that you can see the hood cable if you look up in the fender.

So has anyone ever hooked up a pipe in there so that no one can splice your hood cable and steal your car that way? I was thinking some small electrical piping welded in then running my cable through it. Any ideas?
