i have a 88 accord 2.0Si (b20a) and it runs like complete utter ****, but i wanna fix it, when i slowly press down on the throttle it does this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=4NgiQpdx8ZI wont go over 2.5k unless the engine is completely warm, but then once its warm it will die under light acceleration, has to be quite open for it to rev.. why would it do this?

 

Lots of things cause engines to die out like that.

Bad timing, bad fuel management. Do a tune up and go from there. You have to take initiative in fixing up a 20 year old car when you buy it.

Tune up should include:

Plugs
Wires
Filters (all 3)
Oil
Coolant
Injector cleaner (IIRC the B20A is FI)
Cap & Rotor
Timing check

I bet you wilL see drastic improvements in just doing that in overall realiability.

 

i've replaced all plugs, wires, dizzy, filters, oil, coolant. has near new injectors, and havnt touched the cams timing, but it's accurate, the TDC marks tell me so

 

on old honda's the only really important things are the map and crank sensor. though you should be getting a code, but it will clear every time you turn the key off. i would try getting it running and keep it running for a while and see if it will throw a code.
if it is electrical it should come on pretty easy. if it is mechanical, like maybe a vacuum hose to the map, then it may not come on at all.
