Default pro's con's b20vtec

i currently have a full itr swap in my 95 civic wich burns a whole 1-2 quarts of oil a week depending on how i drive it.. yea pretty lame just bought this motor 5 months ago

oh well anyways... ive been contemplating on pulling the type r out and building a b20v i like the tq of the b20 i just got done helping my friend get his b20 with ls head in his crx and running and it sounds nice, my other friend has a 01 teg with a full b20 swap... i like the tq of the motors, how reliable are they ive heard of people having issues with them.. but im just guessing thats because they half *** it

what would the power increase be with using the b20 block? just more tq?

thankyou for any and all answers im a newb to ls-v and b20-v

my motor isnt really that slow it ran a 14.8 on a shitty shitty launch pretty much didnt go anywhere till 3rd gear.. yes i know 14.8 is slow as expletive but i had the motor in the car for a week didnt really have any seat time at all with it.. ive beaten some evo's and srt4's on the freeway i max out at 145mph or something like that im sure its not much more.. i kept up with my friends 04 sti with minor mods he didnt pull really until i got into 5th gear

i love my type r 9000 rpm shifts is nice but idk.. i dont like how i dont really have **** for power until im in vtec its a whole different world from going to 5600 rpm then everything after 5600 itsa whole different story even in 5th gear flooring it, it picks up soo much more in vtec..

i was just thinking of doing something different ive always had single cams in my cars.. this is my first b series ever im very impressed i just want something with a broader powerband...

if i ever rebuilt the type r id just put a turbo on it anyways

I went from my 1.6 D series to a straight B20 non vtec... I love the low end grunt of it. I like this motor better than my B16 and I cannot wait to put a Vtec head on it.

Cons?... to do it right cost money.

I like my B20 vtec , it loves 9200 rpm shifts and pulls hard all teh way , peak hp is at 8800 rpm. the Type R motor is a awsome , reliable engine , but I had a built B18C1 with B16 head made good power but when compared to the B20 it was about 20 whp down from 2500-7500 , then around 40 whp less peak

the Type R head would be perfect for the B20vtec , and yes add pistons , either rs machines or wiesco and forged rods.I have wiesco pistons 84.50 mm and probe ultralight rods

i had this idea.. tell me what you think...

of just putting the ls or b20 crank in the type r block and use b20 rods and keep type r pistons and do that?? wouldnt that be just like an ls vtec execpt i dont have to use another block and all that work to get the head to work on an ls or b20 block?

i thought that the b20 motors had only 120hp & 130lbfts stock.... just rebuild the B18.

But for the same price he could have a built bottom end...... and then some ..... but as a 2 liter......

type r pistons are 81mm and a b20 has a 84mm bore so that would not be possible my friend...

He knows that hes saying he would use the b20 crank and b20 rods with the type R pistons in the type R block, an LS-VTEC, with itr pistons.
