redo interior?
Hey, I wasn't quite sure where to put this and I did a little searching so might as well put it here. Let me know if there is a better spot for this.
So I want to redo my interior somewhat. No I can't afford to have it all reupholstered (I really wish though) but I want it to look a little less... typical honda? I've been doing stuff to make the car feel more solid and comfortable for the passenger (Light sound proofing, filling the doors (so they make that solid thud when they close instead of the normal rattle, stuff like that)
I've been looking into taking out all the carpet and that carpet on the doors and maybe dying it (just tossing ideas around). haha, this is going to sound really dorky but I'm not too bad with a sewing needle so i could do some neat looking stitching or what ever.
Also what could I do to the plastic/pleather?
I think i'll probably end up changing out the seats for something nicer (racing seats are nice but... not exactly what I'm looking for). Any suggestions? (seat covers, some way to change color of seats, different seats I could put in?)
I think you might get the idea of what I'm trying to do. Just go ahead and toss out some ideas, i really don't mind stupid suggestions because every once in a while something could be made of them. Thanks a ton.
Oh, and links to other interior projects would be nice or post pics or whatever.

They look great, awesome work. I don't mean to demote your work in any way but I'm very hesitant to dye the seats (carpet, not so much) but the thing I'm most worried about is the smell of the paint. Also the change in color doesn't really get rid of the plasticky feel of the door handles, and some other parts like that. Once again, awesome job though.
I saw something in one of those about some one wanting to "stretch fabric" on their panels or something, can any one give me any more information on something like that?
thanks a ton for all the replies though, way more than I expected!

duplicolor vinyl dye works great on the "pleather" you speak of.
Black interior is hot.
Black/red interior is probably one of the best interior color combos of all time.

So nix, you said something about wrapping it in fabric or something? Any thing else on that?
With that in blue, that'd be really nice. I sat in one yesterday and really enjoyed it. But I know the bolsters are some sort of suade or something. My stepdad just got an 08 accord v6 and I really like the interior (it's tan (not a fan of the color), leather). It's just really confy but holds you in your place at the same time.

get some cloth (ideally suede)
and places like walmart sell something by 3m thats a spray adheasive, you spray it on the panel, then on the back of the cloth, wrap it, rub out the bubbles, and let it dry for like half an hour
i did it with my headliner on my del sol with black suede

</TD></TR></TABLE> I agree with you on the duplicolor but you need that adheasion promotor otherwise its gonna come off. Mine has been done now for 2 years and still holding strong never had to respray anything. I also did the door panel inserts and arm rest head liner all in sparco material.
