My shift knob sits crooked...

From: Off the Florida Keys, in a place called Kokomo, USA
I have a Skunk2 weighted shift **** and after you screw it on, the shift pattern not centered. It sits horizontally, instead of vertically. It's tighted, but should I use excessive force to turn it to make it centered?
