Default scat, eagle, and probe rods; whats the difference? same ish different name?

ive noticed that eagle, scat, and probe rods all look exactly the same, all 3 use arp 2000 rod bolts and all 3 are priced at $300 or below with the probe being the cheapest, i found them as low as $258! with eagle and scat both being ~300

so the question, are all 3 the same ish different name? is one better than the other?

All pretty similar... I would stick with Eagle or SCAT though. I think Eagle would be the pest performance bang for the $. just my 2-C. I've used Eagle rods in a few different 4g63 motors and have had awesome success with them. A couple of the motors have run 600+whp with turbos stressing 30+psi on them.

This has been covered before but the answer is that they are all basically the same casting. The difference is the final machining which is generally done stateside by the company.

I just told you. They are all manufactured the same way and shipped off. Then there is final machine work done. That is the difference between the brands. Ask Craig from Tuner Toys. He sells rods just like Scat, Eagle, and Probe rods.

both eagle and scat rods are forged. I don't know of any aftermarket con-rod makers for spo-coms that sell cast rods. Shoot, I'm pretty sure most OEM rods now are forged (albeit super skinny). I know most Nissan stock rods are forged and shot peen'd.

I think it would be safe to say if your max goal is 500-600whp, eagle rods will be fine.

If you're looking for maDd UltiMaTe PoWaH, Pauter rods would be the choice.

People cringe on Eagles, I have personally never used them but my Friend dailys his EG at 600whp and they are 15k miles going strong. Just make sure you use better rod bolts from what I have read and you should be good.

For big power, Manley, Pauter or Crower Pro's are all good rods, but expensive.

most decent dealers sell Eagles with ARP rod bolts. They can be found on ebay IIRC relatively inexpensively.

The funny thing about all this is, 5-6 years ago I was selling SCAT rods through a dealer acct I had. SCAT had just started selling import rods (had been selling V8 stuff for years....just like Probe), and noone would buy them from me cause they said they were knock-off Eagles and junk.

Now, years later, SCAT rods have proven no different, just cheaper. Until I see otherwise, I have no reason to believe that Probes are any different. People need to step up and use them. I got a used set of Eagles from a friend for 100.00, otherwise I'd be sticking them in my motor this year. There's a seller on ebay selling probe rods for 179.00.

I have seen 7 eagles personally through my shop break, bend, warp.
I have never ever heard of a scat breaking. I know alot of domestiv guys running em and i got em in my boosted h22, soon to have some in my 600+ civic budget drag car
