What kind of turbo kit should i get and where?
What kind of turbo kit would be best for my 2000gsr? I've been looking at the drag kits since they are pretty cheap. Best price i got was $2800 so if you know somewhere i can get it cheaper, it'll be appreciated. I don't like the greddy kits even though they are emissions approved because they suck. No offense to greddy turbo owners but it's my opinion. Rev hard kits are nice but pricey. Last but not least kit is the FMAX. They look so much similar to the drag so what's the difference? Well thanks for all your help
Well I think youre gonna get just about everybody to tell you to buy a different kit, either because thats what they have, or thats what they believe in. On thing you might want to think about is being a little careful when you say the Greddy kit sucks, if I remember right there are a couple guys on here puttin up some pretty impressive numbers with em and Im sure when they see this post theyre gonna tell you so. Also, you may get better opinions and facts if you were to post this in the Forced Induction forum.
Ditto on the FI forum, those guys know what they are talking about.
I just went through this with a friend of mine and this is what I learned about going turbo.
1. You need to be a good mechanic. Even if you pay to get it installed, are you going to pay everytime something goes wrong?
2. You will spend the cost of the kit again buying various stuff and tuning. Turbo is Expensive. Belive that.
3. It will take forever to get everything just right.
4. You need to be patient. You will have problems.
5. Don't think about going turbo if cost is going to be an issue.
