atmel chips - are they reburnable-reprogramble

Default atmel chips - are they reburnable-reprogramble

so here's the story i took my 2000 si to the tune shop a weeks ago than being told by my tuner that the atmel chip that is in my p28 is not reprogramable, for some reason he cannot read it, and tells me to get a SST base map-chip from xenocron's
i also plan to use crome software,

fact or fiction . please help

Im not familliar with a atmel chip, but thee sst based one are what most people use and fully re-burnable. Id stick to what your tuner said.

Some atmel chips are re-burnable, some are not.
You would have to post the chip's model printed on the chip for me to tell you if the chip can be re-burnt.

SST512 chips can be re-burned over and over.

if this chip is not reburnable, would it be the problem why my tuner could not read the chip,

AT29C256 is reburnable. At least i have been able to reuse them. 27C are not.

Why do you need a custom basemap? Buy the chip, when it comes in drive with the chip you have already to your tuner and switch the chips. Have him put a tune on and go to work.
