Default question about an S80- transmission.

okay so im buying a 93 hatch soon. it has a jdm gsr swap with about 90km on the engine. the guy says hes using a 92 integra cable tranny i took down the code/vin off the tranny and it is S80-2003904 and his 5th gear doesnt work. i know that i can use practically any b-series tranny but i just want to know what i have in the car. ive checked a couple sites and they only tell me what an S80 is it could be

B18B, JDM B18C GSR, USDM ITR or EDM ITR trans.

how do find out which one mines is? ive searched and came up with this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2126071 that says check at 60 miles/hr at what rpm your at in 5th gear BUT MY 5TH DOESNT WORK. so lol i need another way to find out what the hell tranny is in the car. SOMEONE HELP ME OUT

hate to be the bearer of bad news but.....there is no way on the outside of the tranny to tell what car it come out of, unless it's stamped LSD meaning it came out of a Type R.

94 ls,gs,rs's - came with y80's and s80's
94 gsr's - came with y80's and s80's

95 ls,gs,rs's - came with y80's and s80's
95 gsr's - came with y80's and s80's

96 ls,gs,rs's - came with y80's and s80's
96 gsr's - came with y80's and s80's.............
......................ect. I could go with this list till 2001.

the only two ways of knowing what car this was out of is to know the car it came from or open the tranny housing and count the splines. Im not positive on which one should have which.

Well I don't know about b-series but on d-series trannys theres a stamp that indicates what it came from either a ex/si or any other trim.
