Default ok tell me im wrong

me and my brother are fighting over something. he hooked up my sub for me. and now my type r 10" is fried. why? well im telling him its because he wired it in series and made my 4 ohm sub (which was what i needed) into an 8 ohm sub. he swears "it'll still work like that" and im telling him NO IT WONT.

lol, depending on what amp. Nobody can say anything yet. If the sub was a 400 rms sub and you wired it to 8 ohm and the amp was a 800 watt amp at 4 ohm you would of been good. Whats the set up.

Regardless of how the sub was wired, [I do a lot of 8 ohm sub systems, much better sub bass SQ] it was probably a clipping amp that damaged the sub.

Assuming the amp is a 1x600W RMS into 4 ohms it would be 1x300W RMS into an 8 ohm load, perfect for your 300W sub, but then again that's assuming it is a 1x600W RMS amp, what is the make and model of the amp?

What kind of power and ground leads are being used on the amp?
Where is the amp mounted?
Where is the amp grounded?
How long is the amps ground lead?
What type of fuse is on the amps power lead? 94

Sounds like something else happened. As stated, running in series will make it 8ohm and most all amp will work just fine at this resistance.
