Toda Cam Gear Lesson Please
I know there are different versions. I found a set that is about 3 years old and they have the 4 bolt design. Believe it or not these are 3 years old and never out of the box. Anyone know if there are any problems with these to watch for?
Are the old ones just heavy? Is that the difference? I hear Toda gears are heavier than most but I don't know if that's referring to the older model.

just a matter of preference I guess.
people prefer to use gears that break and have to be continuously designed and are hard to learn to use? i wanna shake their hand!

Never heard a bad thing about Toda gears. Iwanted clarification between the gen1 and gen 2 gears. Skunks are an option too but if I can get these cheaper than skunks and they DON'T have problems what is the problem with that?
That's cool. So do you know of a problem? I think the timing marks changed but was looking for some confirmation.
Gen 1 Toda gears are the same as the Spoon gears.
Gen 2 Toda gears came with more accurate degree markings and made of aluminum to make it lighter.

1. They're similar, but not quite the same.
2. Yes, gen 2 are vernier scale. Very accurate once you learn how to read them.

some people prefer the toda quality. You realize that your beloved skunk2 gears are mis-degreed from the factory, right?
No problem if you use a degree wheel when installing them though, right?
No such problems with any generation of the toda gears.
is it possible that the 2nd gen toda gears in position 0,0 are different from stock non-adjustable gears? if i install them in position 0,0 will i loose power?

..but you knew that, right?
Do you know your motor doesn't care if your cam gear reads 1 degree or 3 degree's if dyno tuning? If you pick up x hosepower at x degree, the motor has no way of knowing "I'm at 2 degree's but the cam gear says 2.5.....oh no"
Just a thought.
