Which light weight Flywheel is good for 99 Civic
Hi...I need a little help here. I'm planning to purchase CompetitionClutch, stage 2 clutch, and the light weight flywheel as well, but I don't which weight should I go for...
If too light, the rmp will drop so fast, i'm just a daily driver and the ride is just for street use... I know the stock flywheel is around 18lbs, should I just go for 14lbs? or even 11lbs ?? Please give me some advices...thanks guys...
by the way, I'm having a D16Y8 engine...

lsd motorsports makes a good flywheel that i just installed. the driveability is similar to stock, i didnt have to raise my idle or anything like that.
it does take just a little bit of usage to adapt to it, but the 11lb flywheel is totally drivable. the act streetlite and exedy flywheels are also good daily driven applications but i dont have any experience with them.
you could contact mike and see if you can get a good deal on a clutch and flywheel like i did

I ran a stock flywheel turned down to ~12 lbs for about 40K miles (auto-x rules kept me from getting an aftermarket flywheel), cheap, drove OK for a DD (needed a little more finesse) and it lasted just fine...
I wouldn't do it if you're going FI or adding tons of power, or running a super HD clutch, but it works fine with bolt-ons and a stg 1 clutch. Make sure it's balanced too.
Don't know anything about your clutch...

I personally love the fidanza flywheel because its a soild design unlike most other companys that cut/drill holes in them to lighting it up. Also my brother is running a comp clutch on his ek and he has no problems with it at all asnd has had it for over 6 months.

comp clutch on EK? what kind of flywheel does your brother use? 12 lbs? or even lighter? I fear that if I use a 12 lbs light weight flywheel, the car will be hard to drive, coz the rpm will drop quicker then stock...the OEM flywheel is 18 lbs, I'm thinking just swap a 14 lbs for a DD. by the way... i'm having a Y8 motor and tranny...please give me some ideas which flywheel I should use.....12lbs or 14lbs...~_~
I'm daily driving with an 8lb Fidanza aluminum flywheel and it's perfectly streetable. I actually tried a 14lb chromoly flywheel first and it didn't make as much difference as I hoped so I swapped to the Fidanza. Some people complain about the lighter flywheels, saying it's harder to launch etc, but I love mine and have had NO issues.

my only issue now is that the wheels spin a little easier from a stop in the rain, but thats probably because of the clutch.
