i got an old school pioneer cd player for my car... deh-p4000... trying to wire it up and i matched the colors but it doesnt power on.. can anyone get me a wiring diagram for what the colors mean? It doesnt say it on the wires.. my car harness has what the wires are written on them.. tried to seach on yahoo and google but couldnt find anythign.. thanks

 

Same as all aftermarket decks.

red = acc
yellow = constant
black = ground
whites = front left (stripes are negative)
grays = front right
purples = rear right
greens = rear left

If it doesn't power up, either your connections are crap (solder or butt connect them) or one of the two radio fuses are blown. One is typically under the dash, 10A marked "radio", and the other is under the hood, 7.5A "back up" or "ecu memory".

yes, but you should test to see if the unit has power on the accesory wire and on the battery wire, Also make sure it has a good ground.

 

wires aint my thing.... all i know is... i matched colors.. connected it.. and it didnt work...it didnt turn on .. and yes i hit the on button.. checked the fuse in the cd player and its good.. and i put the stock cassette player back in.. and it worked

 

If your stock HU works then the acc. fuse is good.
Does your stock HU keep it's memory, preset a couple of radio stations, turn ign. off for a few min., turn it back on, are the preset stations still there?
If yes, the pioneer HU is bad.
If no, replace back up power fuse, normally in under hood fuse box and normally a 7.5A. 94
