b16b head vs b16a head how to tell apart?
Im looking to buy a b16b head w/skunk 2 stg2 cams to put on my gsr bottom end with itr pistons. Im going to use a reprogrammed p28 obd 1 ecu. first does anyone see any problems with the set-up? Is there anyway to tell the b16b head apart from the b16a. Im buying the head from someone and want to make sure its actually a b16b. thank you

I dont believe its a P73 stamp as thats ITR but even then ITR heads are stamped PR3. I know the piston code for B16B is PCT, maybe thats the head code as well.

You can not do difference between B16a and Type-R motors, they have the same CAST head...some of the differences between the two heads are that the Type-R head has a better and stronger valvetrain, the cams, lighter valves, the better intake manifold and bigger throttlebody, and a mild port job from the factory.
You can have a b16a with a port&polish and you will can not do the difference....
