Default WHICH WAY TO GO?

WHATS UP EVERYONE I JUST WANT TO ASK A QUICK QUESTION AND WANT TO KNOW YOUR OPINION, HERE IT GOES:

Im about to get my first car in two to three months, which will be an Ek hatch hopefully. so im thinking on wheather buying a shell and put a k20 which would be cheaper then buying a car with a motor in it or just buy the car with the motor it comes with and later then go k-series. Which choice would be best?

or you could forget about spending 10k on a k swap buying a ek hatch and swapping a b series in it and turbo for less then the kswap and being way faster. not to mention you have money left over for wheels tires and suspension. overall unless u want some bling status i would go with a k swap. just my .02

doing ANY b series swap will be cheaper than a k swap...you can probably get a good turbo set up on the b swap and it will be faster and cheaper

Correct

One thing you gotta understand about buy a car with a swap done already is that you have no information about it at all, unless your friends with the dude. You don't know any modifications that has been done, any problems, ect ect ect

I think a b series swap would be best. It would be the easiest by far if this is your first swap. If you are trying to go the cheaper route, I would say a b16a with turbo.

Damn K-Series bandwagon propaganda. It's his first car and they've already got him.

Get a B or H series motor. Boost it, and then walk away from "K" swaps. And then go enjoy some Bojangles with the money you have left over.

Before you do anything at all, use the "Search" in red at the top of the screen. It's awesome.

...and another ricer is added to the mix.

Cheaper to buy a shell and add a K20? Are you kidding me. K20 swap after it's all said and done is about 8 or 9 grand, 1k for a good cond. chassis and you got yourself a 10,000 dollar car worth of 200whp.

If you turbocharge an LS motor you can drop 300whp and own K20's all day for not even half the price.

For 3/4 of the price (maybe 7500 or less) you can get a fully built LS and turbocharge it to make 600whp and that will kill just about anything (including your gas).

Pick your poison.

What I would do if I were you?

Get rid of the D16Y ASAP, they're **** engines, I know, I have one, and have seen plenty more boosted ones roast bearings due to **** oil pumps.

Swap in an OBD-II GSR, you'll make about 150-160 at the wheels with a nice amount of torque - OR, drop in an LS (non-VTEC) w/ a B16 transmission, you'll make only about 125-130 at the wheels, but you'll be able to almost hang with GSR's.

Forget the K20, stop having ricer wet dreams...you're talking 3k for the motor (at least), and another 6k for the parts needed to put that motor in a civic.

EDIT:
If you want to make 300whp any B series engine can do that on stock internals (I wouldn't go with the B20 though if you like to rev past 6k). A really nice setup for making power is getting a GSR bored out to a 2.0L and sleeving it, then use lower comp rods/pistons, and you got yourself a block that'll hold almost 700hp at the wheels, but it really depends what you're aiming for. 300WHP should be MORE than enough for anything you need. Run 280whp on a GSR or LS w/ a good tune and you should have no right to complain as you rape K20 after K20 for half the price.

uh buddy you mean y8? z6=92-95 civic si and ex
y8=96-00 civic ex

you could go z6 but much much easier to go y8 cuz its obd2 and you wouldnt have to cross obd's. so go y8 and save yourself a big headache. lol

CAPS!! But anyways. I had dreams of K series.. Theyre for when ur ballin. Your First car. Im pretty sure ur not too mechanically inclined (i dont know but u seem like u had ambitions) I'd say go B series. My first honda is the one i drive now. I didnt know **** about hondas i actually hated them until i bought one realizing how much fun they are to drive and how much can be done (creativity is the key).. I did my swap myself. I had help from a H-T homie sikciv666 hes well known on here and we got the car running. The car runs mint. And there is no feeling like getting into a car youve built from bone stock to what it could possibly be. Dont let people stomp on you and tell you what to do but for a first car you dont want something that is super rare. It will most likely get stolen because thats what all of the idiots in this world do .. STEAL .. Save up your money, Buy an OBD2 used LS swap and try to find a GSR trans or B16 trans, go to EBAY buy a T3T4 or look around for a kit and You can acheive in excess of 250 Wheel ... Thats alot for being a first car. Its alot to handle let alone a motor that revs 9K out of the box and has tons of torque. Ls or B series VTEC is the way to go! Hmotorsonline B16 swaps... 1500.00 shipped ... drop right in !
