Default car not starting....

So here what is going on. Earlier today my car was running fine. But on the way home the radio shut off, the cigarette lighter went out, my gauges on the a pillar went out, but my head lights n all other gauges n clock work fine, i don't get it. While working on my car, i was pulling fuses, both inside and outside, so i dont know if i just didnt put one back, but when i went to start the car, it would crank over or anything.

So if any body has any ideas, i could really use the help. Thank you

You don't know if you put them back? That's not good. But if they were on when you started driving home, then shut off, I'm gussing that maybe you stuck a lower amperage fuse in the wrong spot, and when you turned something on it made te circuit blow. I'de start by finding out what amp fuse the parts of you car that aren't working take. Then check them. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by banduondubs &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">but when i went to start the car, it would crank over or anything.

</TD></TR></TABLE> Is that a typo? Is it s'pose to say "wouldn't crank over" instead of would?

I had a similar prob with my 97, it ended up being a corroded wire going to my alternator. So I took it off sanded down the contention and the wire. then I blasted it with some pb, replace the nuts, and recovered the wire. I haven't had a prob since. could also be a weak alternator or battery.

chk to make sure that you reinstalled the fuses in the proper spot.. if the fuse box lid, it should show where the fuses go,, I would chk that out first ,

i had that problem a couple of years ago. i was on my way to the shop to get her checked out and 1 mile before i got there my guages went out and my tachometer just went kaput. it turned out that my alternator went out. luckily i was already going to the shop and i was so close that i didn't get stranded. take it in, instead of trying to trouble shoot yourself. you could be replacing or do stuff for nothing.

in my car my lights kept going off and on, and sometimes it wouldn't start up right away. then i just gave out. i found out it was the ignition switch. i replaced it and it was running fine.
maybe that?

Just check basics first as Tyte-S said, go over where you played with.

If you don't mind my asking, why were you pulling them in the first place? Was there an electrical problem prior to the no cranking?

yea, driving home, my radio went out along with the cigarette lighter, and my gauges on the a pillar dont work, but they still light up; so i thought it was a fuse. So i started checkin the fuses that it could have been. Started the car back up, it ran fine, but nothin the things still didnt work. LAter on in the day the car wouldnt turn back on. So i think sometihng as a short to somewhere and is draining the battery down to nothing.
