You may want to remove the cap all together to make sure no trash got in there. Then spin and see if you have resistance.
The wrong cap along my cause a bad feeling in the shaft when spinning. Try without the cap, then try with.

Without the cap, and no trash in the dizzy, the shaft should spin freely. If not, sign of it getting ready to take a dump on you.

The cap is off and there is no trash in it. I just doesn't spin freely, like it's holding back and feels like a dull clicking constantly not one click every half turn or a full turn.Is this normal? I'm pretty sure it's not but just want some other opinions.

What is you're motor? If it's a D15B8 CX motor they were given a POS distributor that doesn't have ball bearings for the shaft. It has some weird washer-type bearing setup that is infamous for wearing out. My old CX dist. went on me so I said "screw it, I'm gettin a B16".

It's a D16z6.The oring seal is bad on it,now i know where my oil is going. I'm actually trying to figure out why my car is running like ****.Runs fine for about an hour then it starts misfiring and dying. Fuel pressure is good new fuel filter, new cap, rotor, wires plugs.no cels.Timing belt was replaced a year ago.

this may be irrelevant but:

my nissan altima had the same problem, well, still has. Just havent had the time to get around to it. it will drive well for 30 or so minutes then start losing power and then die. from what ive gathered on the net this is a popular problem with these altimas. the distributor O rings wear and old gets in and then the camshaft position sensor overheats or something. well you can replace the O rings and clean the dist. out. now on some hondas isnt the camshaft position sensor in the dist.? possible having the same problem?

I think it can be done, maybe run a search on that topic. I'll do the same and if I find something I'll post the thread.

My distributor doesnt spin freely. I have replaced my o-ring and have taken it out numerous times. I cant just spin it and it will keep going on its own. There is a little resistance in turning it by hand. And you will feel like its clicking. But it doesnt make a clicking sound. Its hard to explain over the internet, but i have working on all kinds of distributors and they all feel the same.
