Well i went out to shave some of the webbing off my block yesterday to fit my turbo. I was so focused on what i was doing i only pluged the oil dip stick hole but i forgot to cover the spark plug passage way and the exhaust ports. After grinding and grinding, i come to realize that i did not cover the exhaust ports. expletive

Then i realized i didnt cover the spark plug holes, double expletive. So there are TINY TINY particles of aluminum dust on top of my piston, i can only see a tiny bit.

Now from anyones experience will this crap just blow out or will there be damage, im so close to being done, and ive already taken things apart and put back together and so on . i dont know if im going crazy thinking this is OK, or if i should stop being stupid and just take the head off to clean the area. thanks yall\

Off course your going to have to take it apart and clean it up in there. Otherwise the metal particles are going to scare the cylinder walls and cause premature wear.

 

Aluminum dust shouldn't scar the iron cylinder walls. Hook up a shop vac and try to suck out what you can. If you have access to a pump that can remove fluids pour some atf into the cylinder through the spark plug and then pump the atf out. The aluminum particles should be suspended in the atf and removed when you pump it out. Start the car with fresh oil and run for five minutes and then drain. and put on new filter and oil, you should be good to go. I wouldn't put the turbo on till after you do the oil change.

 

yeah, unless there are sizable chunks, i think just blowing it w/ compressed air should do the trick.

if its just dust from the grinding its fine. what do you think gets into motors that have a turbo with no filter.

 

You could always tape a straw to a hose and vacuum it out from the top. I think it'll be fine. Alum is soft, plus its only a fine powder, and there cant be that much that got in. Relax

 

Get a shop vac with a small tube attachment and suck all the bits out... A good dose of compressed air will get pretty much all the **** out of the cylinders. Before you start the engine, squirt some motor oil into each cylinder just in case the aluminum tends to grab onto the rings, etc....

what will this do exactly, this is so the bits stick to the oil on the way out? i the top of the piston has some wd40 on it, i sprayed the block when it was sitting in my garage. another problem i dont have a header, will it be a problem going through my turbine? this is after cleaning it out of course. thanks

You just run the manifold w/o the turbo (or no mani at all). There's no law that states you need a turbo on a turbo manifold. It just isn't great for power
