Default Windsheild wipers kill GPS

I have a Garmin GPS that was installed at circuit city. The installed a cigarette lighter type outlet under the dash and ran the GPS cable into that. When I turn on my windshield wipers my GPS fuse shorts.

Any ideas?

Wires could be touching...Have you taken a look at the wiring?

If it was installed recently I'd bring it back to them and tell them to fix it on their dime.

Word. They messed something up. It shouldn't be on you to fix it.

they probably grabbed power from the wipers. do the windshield wipers stop working too? they might have even grabbed the wrong wire thinking it was something else and its either over drawing on the fuse, or grounding it out.

I wouldn't care when it was installed, they obviously did a jacked wiring job. Take it in there and demand a free fix, that's bush.
