Okay, I started this LST project long time ago and was buying whatever parts I found to be at good price.

I have a darton sleeved LS short block with stock bore 81mm. I already have 2 sets of pistons, I have wiscos in 81mm 9.2 compression and CP in 84mm in 9.7 compression. Should I bore to 84mm and sell the wiscos? If so, would the 9.7 compression be safe for 500whp goal?

BTW, I bought both sets a year ago because they were at a good deal which I could not miss.

i like a little higher compression but if you can use the wiseco's at 81mm i'd do that. No need in going bigger if you dont really need to...just boost up!

 

Okay, so I'll use the wiseco's and further when I need to bore I have the CP.

Yeah, I will sell the block once I have the bore to 86mm

 

i dont know a whole lot about sleeve thickness and what not but the amount of material left and if you are getting close to the edge of loosing strength in the sleeve i would be considering that. i would also talk to the person that will be tuning the set up to get their opinion.

the CP's you bought... i would research and see if they are the "newer" CP's that were built after the valve relief issue's. I personally like the Wiseco's though and used those for mine.

 

u can reach ur goal of 500whp with a 81mm bore, just depends on what ur turbo is capable of making. imo

 

I see most of the people here are diggin the Wiseco's.
