Default Long Beach Int'L Bike Show - who went?

I went with my brother and his girlfriend to the LBC today to check out the bike show.

I sat on a bunch of bikes including some dirty models and came away impressed with the following:

Suzuki (gasp!!!) GSXR1000: It's so compact, I thought I was sitting on the 600 model.
Honda CBR600RR: It's everything the rags have said about it - comfortable ergos, light, stylish.
KTM SuperDuke: No wonder people say its such a blast. It's narrow and the wide bars seem perfect for dishing it into the corners.

My brother's thinking of buying a bike so we checked out the Ninja 250 which looked great. He even hopped on the back and we looked like two circus bears on it I got him to sit on the Ninja 650R and the Suzuki SV650 and SV650S. All three of which I thought would make great starter and long-term rides. I even got him to sit on the new 'Busa and do the gorilla pose (butt out, arms locked at the wrist)

On a related note, his girlfriend almost caused me to drop a $30,000 Goldwing since when she literally JUMPED on the back. Thank god the kickstand was still down.

and the graffiti paint scheme on the new 600RR is pure sexxxx.

...and yes, 4 x's were necessary

I even checked out Jason Britton's stunt show which was cool to see in person. It's not as exciting as the show will have you believe but Jason an Co. are very skilled and do what they do well.

I stopped by the Terra Powersports booth but didn't come home with any goodies either. The RS Taichi suits did look good though.

They feel even better when you're wearing it.

I didn't make it this year - food poisoning has me doing a whole lot of not much. I really wanted to go again, if nothing else than to say hi to CE2 again.

word. was it me, or were their not many vendors out there today? most seemed to carry very little selection, and everything seemed to cater to the show-bike/ stunt/cruiser crowds. icon was everywhere!

I heard mixed reviews - some said good, some said bad.

I think it's a smart move to cater to that crowd ATM, since that's where a lot of publicity is at (Superbikes, American Thunder on SpeedTV).

Went, didn.t take pics cause it was too crowded. The show was good though, I missed the stunt show but my friend said it was sick. I guess Jason Britton put on a really good show and did all of his signature tricks. The highlights for me were getting to see Rossi's bike, the 450 moto Yamaha had out, KTM's 125 moto GP bike, the 2008 Suzuki 250R (really cool), 2008 GSX-R, and the new Ducati's (848, 1098R).

You guys really need to go and sit on a new 848..it feels amazing. Your body is automatically encourage to sit in a almost 'tucked' seating position. Before I got off of it I almost thought it was on a rear stand or something. I'm sure it might not be too great for daily riding but you can definitely tell the bike was designed with a specific type of riding in mind.

I had a pain in the *** time trying to get out of the parking garage I was in though. I guess I just to happened to choose to leave at the same time a third of the people parked in that garage were. It took me almost half an hour just to get out of there but it wasn't that bad. Only paid $3.00 for parking after the validation

Overall, the show was better than I expected. The addition of the stunt show was definitely a good idea (although i didn't even get to see it) but I would like to see some better vendor tents or something with more gear offered and custom parts but I'm sure that will come with time since the whole stunting scene is really help the industry grow.

Sorry, wish I had pictures. I'm sure someone does though.

It was pretty crowded so it was hard to take pictures without some random hand touching the bikes... plus it was kind of dark so you needed a flash, but you know how terrible those pictures turn out =\

I tried to lower the shutter speed and go flashless, but I just ended up with a bunch of blurry pictures... hope someone else faired better =|

bikes i sat on:

new 1000rr - it's not as ugly in person. well, 5/6 of it isn't as ugly in person, but for a liter bike it really is light.

ninja250 - it looks better, but you can still smell the cheap from 5 miles away, mostly from the gauges.

gsxr750 - you sit on 1 gixxer you sit on em all. still, more comfortable and practical than most sportbikes.

08 r6 - what, is this bike made for people under 5'2? in the tuck position i felt like i was a few inches from being fetal.

848 - oh god i want one. i love the narrow saddle.

mv agusta f4 - not for the short legged. upon asking the guy at the booth about a F5 he said: "uh, eventually." he also denied the mv agusta middleweight triple rumor.

aprilia shiver - it feels nice, but it looks awkward as hell. it's got that whole benelli cafe racer look to it, as in, the intakes are this close to being on a buell 1125r.

street triple - believe the hype. this will be the nekkid bike to end all nekkid bikes. great ergos, nice, light, and tossable--if you were thinking about getting one, go do it.

show highlights:
CEii + boz boys signing free posters (of course, honda had no one there...)
hapa chix
848
street3
trackdaz 4-pack
finding out the track club got all the bw dates.

Ill upload some picture later tomorrow... Like what everyone said gsxr, 600rr and 848 were sick. But I also liked the 8-Ball Kingpin Victory, the Ural looked pretty sick. Anyone see the McCuff chicks? I almost left with a Tommy Gun Helmet, anyone know where i can score one for under 350?
