Default problems after timing belt install

Hello all, recently I replaced the timing belt ,balance belt, both tensioners, water pump, thermostat,PS belt and aternator belt on my 1994 accord ex with 199,200 miles on it.After putting it all back together started it up and she ran great ideled normal no leaks everything looked good .Took it for a test drive ran fine thru all stages of acceleration i was happy as a clam . I decided to drive it to work that monday which is a 50 mile commute she ran good with the exception of a sputter here and there at low rpms under load. Drove the car to work the next day and experience the sputter /hesitation again but a bit more frequently this time, by now i have about 150 miles on the car since the belt replacement. I drove the car home from work that day and the was an accident on the beltway which ended up in a lot of stop and go the sputter/hesitation got progressively worse. I found that if i feather the gas pedal i could get the motor to respond a bit better but it bearly got me home .can my timing be off? the car ran good for the first hundred miles.Any help would be appreciated.

I would check to see if maybe the belt slipped a bit.

Thanks for the response ,yea today i decided to go a head and adjust the valves and as i rotated the crank to adjust each set of valves i inspected the T belt at the cam gear and didnt see any teeth missing on the belt , how else could it have slipped if belt is intact ?

Hmm, how much tension is on it? If it's just loose enough it's possible while running it jumped a tooth or so and slipped up a bit.

No teeth missing is obviously a good thing

The only way to be sure that there is not a timing problem between the crankshaft and the camshaft is to check your manual for what things are supposed to look like and then pull the spark plugs (so you can move things with precision and not have the engine "jump" as you approach Top Dead Center) and line things up.

Then check the distributor to see that it has not somehow or other wound up at the wrong setting. Then check the cap plug wires and so on. While you are at it, a fresh set of plugs wound not be a bad idea unless you also replaced them when doing the belt. By the way, how do they look? Any odd fouling?

Did you bleed the air out of the cooling system after replacing the water pump? Air up by the temperature sensor can cause some odd things to happen.

yea this weekend i went ahead and removed the valve cover and check the cam timing marks while #1 piston at tdc with the single mark on the crank lined up with crows foot and got a match . i belive my timing is good . i also went a head and replaced the coolant temp sensor cause ive read alot of post's saying that can give problems and refilled coolant system and bleed air out . Oh and i also cleaned out the screen in the air idle control valve and reset the ECU.started the car and let it run for ten minutes without touching anything and the car idled down to a smooth 750 rpm. i decided to take a test drive and didnt get a mile down the street an it started missing and sputtering again. Im thinking maybe a blown head gasket. any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem after a crankshaft seal replacement. I'm guessing something wasn't put back properly in the timing belt/etc. What ended up being the fix?

You didn't check the balance shaft belt, did you?

Hello everyone,
Im new to this forum, I have a 97 accord EX wagon 2.2 V-Tec, I just had the timing belt, balance belt, water pum, oil pump seal, camshaft seals, AC belt and Power Stearing belt replaced, now the car is running really rough on high RPM's, it actually feels as it is not shifting right after 3rd gear.....I took it back to my mechanic and they moved the distributor a little bit, now is running a little better but still running rough, what can this be?? is the timing belt too tight?? car ran fine before....thanks in advace for your help.
