Default 96 civic EX GSR swap problem!

OK i have a 1996 honda civic ex. I bought it already with a 97 GSR swap in georgia.

Ok so i had to move out to cali and there is a check engine light on, dont know the code off hand. But ne ways i took it to a smog place and they said something was messed up with what they had to connect to like the harness had been cut?!

So if i find a new GSR harness would that fix the problem? would i need a OBD2-Obd1 jumper? if so how and where do i get that?

No you can't use a GSR harness.

You have to find out what the problem is. What is the CEL for? Go to autozone, and they will plug in an OBD2 scantool to find out what your car is throwing a CEL for. Find that out. Find out what the code is for the CEL.

The 96-98 harness from an EX would be the ideal harness to use for your situation..unless the GSR's ECU is OBD2-B.

Your car is OBD2-A orginially.

Find out more info.

What is the CEL for?
What year is the GSR motor/ECU?
If not a GSR ECU, what ECU is it?
