You Can run it without the fan technically, but don't some people use the stock fans and just trim away some plastic maybe where each of the fanblades hit the bleader for the clutch and anywhere other it binds.
Dude you NEED a fan - period.
You can go to Advance Auto Parts and get a nice aftermarket slim fan. the brand name is "Hayden" and I believe they offer two diameters - get the smaller one. I believe it's 10''.
I and a co worker run these fans on our EFs because of clearance issues we have with our header and the stock fan shroud.
Cost is like $60.00, which is a lot cheaper than a new engine once you drive the car around with no fan and blow the head gasket.

i had this fan and it worked great.
when you say "big budget" you mean "small budget" i think. and do you want a stock radiator and fan from the car or the engine?

Well i did what colby71 said and trim away some parts and tilted the fan instead of triming the fan blades. and it worked out great until i hit the bleader for the clutch with a wrentch and it broke off a piece where the nipple hits so i went to the junkyard and got it there. ill upgrade later because im on a "small Budget". thanks all
