why would v-tec not hit?
i got a 97 honda civic and i coverted everything over to obd1 and i put a jdm d15b in it and i got the p08 as my ECU and i put the jumper on it to convert everything over but it will run fine right up until its time for v-tec to kick in and then it starts missing in the motor because v-tec want kick in. Can anyone please tell me my problem???

did you hook up the wires for vtec? maybe your vtec selenoid bad...and you are sure you are running a vtec ecu with the vtec wires ran? and what rpm were you at when vtec "didnt kick in"?
right at 4500 or 5000 right when v-tec should kick in and the wiring harness is obd2 so i put the obd2 plug on it and it still dont want to kick v-tec in. And it juss starts cutting out for some reason.
and i juss got this swap i dont need on preciate it tho

well if im not mistaken, those motors' vtec is supposed to kick in around 5500 rpm. im not sure on those but you said the ecu was obd2? and the d15b is obd1.
no the ecu is obd1 and i got the jumper harness that converts from obd2 to obd1 and it had check engine lights on and everything but now everythings off. my only problem now is that v-tec dont want to kick in and the car will start missing like it wants to hit v-tec but it dont hit it.
im guessin vtec selenoid...check either a junkyard or ebay and pick one up. if that doesn't work...im not sure what else it could be. what motor was in your car before the swap?

ok, did vtec kick in the z6 and y8? i think all vtec selenoids are the same exept the jdm ones with like 2 or 3 stage vtec. you can try those and see if they work..but did vtec kick in on the z6 or y8? and might you wanna sell that z6 pretty cheap? lol
yeh the v-tec kicked in on the y8 and the z6 but this is a jdm motor and u know how japan stuff goes its way diffrent than usdm stuff and i was juss goin to put a wire on the green wire on the v-tec and touch it to the positive battery post terminal and if it clicked then it was working and if it didnt then it was a bad solenoid. is that true that i can do that to see if the v-tec solenoid is good? and nah that z6 aint for sale sorry
i have never heard of touching the wire to the battery terminal and testing it..but like i said before, maybe vtec kicks in somewhere around 5500 or 5700. you just need to go through first gear and stay in there till you get to around 6k or so..if it doesnt kick in then, check your selenoid or maybe faulty wiring somewhere. or google somethin like d15b and get the stats and somewhere should tell you when vtec engages. good luck man...and tryin to buy the z6 was worth a try. lol
