The problem is i can shift through park, neutral, reverse, and drive but when im in drive the tranny starts off in 2nd gear and it wont shift. also, when i put it down into 1st it will rev up freely like neutral. Any input is appreciated and thanks ahead of time for your help!

Ever had your transmission fluid flushed? How many miles are on the car?

 

get under the car and check your auto shifter cable or the bracket that holds it. The cable probably has some slack in it. That's why when you put it in D4 it's actually D2 which won't let you go past 2nd gear.

 

yeah just replaced with new tranny fluid and im gonna check the cable tomorrow hopefully thats the problem. Thanks for input!

 

Did you use Honda ATFZ1?
