d15b7 mini swap turbo question
Ok i have a 95 civic 4dr, d15b7 standard, i bought a d16y8 head and i have a intake, header, full 2 1/4 exhaust, high flow cat, oil catch tank, msd ignition cap and external coil, and adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 10.2mm wires, ,no a/c compressor or condensor, totally gutted it from the front seats back, as of right now from you guys who know there stuff what do u think im pushing and what do u think i can do in the quarter? Ok the what do u think after i put my turbonetics turbo pushing around 9. Just through some answers out there.
You WILL blow it up.
D16Y8 Head on a B7 Block is 10.8:1 compression with a Y8 Headgasket, you boost that and you will snap your rods like twigs.
Also, your stock transmission has horrid gearing, You'll be lucky to get below a 15 second quarter at 6PSI if you feel brave and turbo it anyways.
I did alot of research and even OWN a turbokit for my setup *Same as yours, check my write-up* but tuning on this setup is very challenging, and nearly impossible and unsafe with boost.

I think it would be able to take 9 psi or so now im not saying I know this setup as well as you but the rods on must d's can handle more then that and 10.8 is high but with a good tune and 93 you should be fine.
im definetely going to get the head rebuilt and put a little larger cam in there or do u think i shouldnt even bother with a larger cam? if so what cam do u think i should through in there and from where?

This sounds like his first time turboing a car, and a high compression minime swap is not a good place to start learning.
'most D's' that go turbo are A6/Z6/Y8's which have MUCH MUCH thicker rods, a Stock D15B8/B7 Bottom end will not hold over 8PSI for very long, let alone with high compression 6 PSI is optimisitc.
If you really wanna keep your block, get Vitara pistons *Which drop your compression about a point and a half*, and some heavy duty rods and you will be able to withstand 10PSI+
