Default Low Clearance Scrape

I have an '08 Si. I was cruising along and didn't pay attention to this weird set of dips at an intersection and scraped the tow hooks underneath the car as I rolled through. Nothing else is scraped besides those little flexible mud flaps on the sides. The welds appear to be intact on the hooks nor are the wheels dented. I wasn't going terribly fast; 20 mph at most. The car drives like new and feels exactly the same. It is just that these kind of things don't make me feel any better. I am in general a very careful driver and really baby the car. Haven't even gone past 4.5 RPMs. Do you guys think that there is anything to watch out for in terms of stuff that might have shifted or even broken? I popped the hood and everything looks fine. I am no authority on engines so I won't even pretend. But, the belts run straight, there are no squeaks and it starts up just fine. Although it does idle near 2000 RPMs when I start it in the morning. After I start it later, it idles near 1000. I suppose that is normal though.

This is the drivers side. It is the worse than the other.

I don't think you have anything to worry about really.

That's not a "low clearance" scrape. That would have occured on your roof. You just "bottomed out". Nonetheless the car will be fine.

Furst of all my car is lowered on coilovers a few inches with the HFP lip kit and the only thing I have ever bottomed out on are the front brake ducts (little flaps your talking about), so you must have either been going too fast or hit some pretty serious bumps to bottom out on your tow hooks without your car being lowered.

Aside from that I would be more concerned with crasked rims, or suspension damage. Nothing should be wrong under the hood.

That looks like nothing and shouldn't be a problem. I bet my underbody is all scratched up too. My front bumper is all scratched up from the bottom, but it is hard to notice. The only way to notice it is to bend down and look under the car. This is the main reason why I dont wanna drop my car. I will probably have some serious problems if I get a drop.

Cool guys. I feel better now. No, my car is not lowered. The intersection was VERY weird: Like two reverse speed bumps. As I said, about 20 mph.

Like two dips? lol I can see how that can happen if the car were to recoil after hitting the first and landing on the second. Like everyone else said you'll be fine. Unless you see oil on the floor and a cracked pan. lol J.K
