Default Vibrant Universal Muffler install and video clip

I purchased a Vibrant Universal muffler and resonator (12 inch) for my 91 Civic D16A6 with a JRSC. My last setup was just way too loud.

Definitely looks like a quality product, but I wasn’t too keen on having a stainless steel muffler hanging off the back of my hatch back, so I purchased Duplicolors high temp black, and got to painting.

And the finished product:

I know everyone always wants to hear how it sounds, so the video here of it going up to 7K

I am SUPER happy with this setup. MUCH quieter, and definitely not a drop in performance from my last setup (last setup involved an ill fitted flow master, not going to get into it), if anything the power band feels smoother with possibly a small bump. That could just be the butt dyno talking though.

The painting was done with the Duplicolor product. I didn’t sand or scuff the muffler first, so we will see how long it lasts.

Regardless, really happy with the quality, sound, and the performance of the Vibrant product!

Hopefully this can help someone out with the many “whats this muffler sound like?” posts.

Kind of Ugly? I didnt realize they made "pretty" mufflers these days. Perhaps you were looking for somthing with a lace or flower motife?

The video was taken in the garage as well, so its a little quieter without the sound bouncing off the walls. Not farty sounding, which was as well what I was trying to stay away from.

The motor is a stock rebuilt D16A6 with the JRSC at stock boost, a DC header and a hollow cat. Remeber this is the 12 inch resinator and the muffler, so not sure how much diffrence you would get with just the muffler. Definetly impressed with it so far though!

I think he said this just because its a plain pipe sticking out the back.

I like how the muffler looks back there though, and the work looks to be pretty good. It definitely sounds nice too. Sort of mellow, and not too buzzy. A+

Get a sweet tip put on!

I thought vibrant made a flat black muffler. why didn't you just buy it instead of painting?

back from the dead.

that is 2.25 inch piping and the "bottle style resonator" correct? also, where did you get your vibrant products from? Vibrant's website doesnt show a 2.25 center on center oval muffler, that is why i am asking.

thank you.

The resonator should eliminate the drone. Thats what it "does".

Im actually going to do this same thing again for my Wagon project once the motor is finished......

Ill see if I can do another video this evening.

Gator88

Part numbers are 1790 and 1101 according to what I ordered. Again, I got these through a friends shop, but I think Vibrant is a fairly easy product to pick up at most stores, Im not totally sure.

So you are just using the vibrant resonator? I have heard from a few poeple to use something longer. Plus my setup does not have a cat so I hope it sounds fine

In that video, its a DC header, 2.25 inch pipes to a hollow cat, then to the Vibrant 12 inch resinator, then to the muffler.

Theres the info I wanted to know I am in the middles of doing a exhaust on my EG and am ordering a Vibrant 2.5. Doing a 18 inch resonator,,, maybe a cherry bomb. I do not have a cat as the original VX cat went with the motor.. so I hope it will not be too bad
