can I put blow off on SC?
he wants to have wooooosh! sound
on his cooper.
I don't know much about turbo or SC
what is the reason to put bov anyway?
just for the wooosh! sound?

now why would you make something for the woosh sound.....it is a functional piece...think about it.... BLOW OFF VALVE.... lets use the context clues.... Blow off (so we know it blows off) Valve( and we know it has a valve)....anyways i dont know where i was going with that.... it vents unwanted pressure from charge pipes that way compressor surge does not occur
O.K. then NO because on a SC is placed after the throttle plate and I think, that when cars come from factory with SC they have a bypass valve that bleed of unwanted pressure. Sorry No WOOOOsh.
. But I'm sure he can still enjoy his mini

what is a roots style?
would it be much better to post a pic of his under hood?

Oh. Well if thats the case, no "whoosh" for your friend, xkrntamax.

Mini's have a Roots blower, no BOV, but he can always do this:

the answer is yes, the valve will need to be open to bypass air at idle and light throttle (we offer a -3psi spring for this)

The answer is no, the Mini Cooper S already has a bypass valve that opens under light throttle, so there is no boost to blow off. Here's a picture of it, these are a feature of basically all Roots blower setups:

no, if you used our bov with the -3psi S/C spring (or any other bov that works in a similar matter), the valve would remain open under idle and light throttle, then close when you plant your foot, then blow off when you need it to. It would act exactly like CBV without the recircualtion part - you are venting the air as opposed to recirculating
a bov can 'blow off' with no boost, as seen in the neutral revving contests in the past

That's true, if it's brand new then it would have a turbo.
Neutral revving turbo cars has nothing to do with putting a BOV on a Roots SC car, mostly because the throttle body is on the other side of the compressor on a SC'd car, but there are other reasons that it wouldn't do anything for him.
At any rate it's a MAF car, not a speed-density car like a Honda, so he'd want to recirculate it, thereby effectively muffling the wooooosh! sound.

So he can't put BOV right?</TD></TR></TABLE>
yes he can, but he will have to convert from a MAF if it's metering air pre CBV/BOV
